WHAT IS CT
CT Scanning is a computer assisted x-ray based high resolution 3-dimensional medical imaging technology that allows doctors to see the inside of your body with exquisite detail.
EXAM CONSIDERATIONS
The actual scanning takes just MINUTES as you lie very still on a slowly moving table. There is generally not a need to wear a special gown, but you must remove all jewelry and any other metal objects (i.e. belts and watches). During the scanning, you will be asked to hold your breath for a few seconds.
PREPARING FOR YOUR EXAM
There are no preparations necessary for the whole body scan, cardiac scoring, or lung screening. In case of the virtual colonoscopy, there are additional preparations the day before the exam, which will be discussed when you schedule an appointment.
